The first two-bedroom, three-bath house is scheduled to be build by the holidays. In all, Habitat is building five three-bedroom 1,160-square-foot homes and two 1,134-square-foot homes. Construction on the rest of the homes is scheduled to begin in the spring. The houses will be built on 8-foot columns and parking will be underneath.
Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976. The non-governmental, non-profit builds houses for lower-income families who are expected to help build the home. The families pay a down payment and monthly no-interest mortgage, but the homes cannot be sold for profit, according to Habitat's website."
