HENRY FLAGLER AND THE OVER-SEA RAILROAD

In 1905 Henry Flagler began the expansion of his East Coast Railroad from Miami toward Key West, at the time Florida’s most populous city. 156 miles over land and water and 7 years later, the first train with Henry Flagler on it rolled into Key West on January 22, 1912.Throughout the upper Keys can be seen historical markers related to this remarkable feat. Be sure to check them out when you are in the Keys!
